PRP Skin Rejuvenation

Platelet -Rich Plasma Skin Rejuvenation

What is PRP Skin Rejuvenation

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is a revolutionary autologous non- surgical cosmetic procedure that utilises the body’s own natural healing abilities to rejuvenate and enhance the skin’s appearance.

As PRP is autologous, it poses a low risk as it is a natural procedure.

PRP, derived from your own blood, contains a high concentration of platelets, growth factors and active proteins that are vital for tissue rejuvenation and healing.

How does it work?

PRP involves extracting a small amount of the patient’s own blood, which is then spun in a centrifuge separating the plasma and highly concentrated platelets from the red blood cells.

The platelets are rich in various growth factors and bioactive proteins, offering enhanced regenerative properties and therapeutic benefits that stimulate collagen production, improve skin elasticity, and promote tissue regeneration.

Once prepared, PRP is carefully injected into targeted area of the face or body, such as under- eye area, cheeks, neck, décolletage, scalp or stretch marks.

The growth factors in PRP stimulate:

  • Overall health and cell renewal of the skin

  • Promote even skin texture and tone

  • Minimise the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and acne scarring

  • Target dark circles under the eye

PRP minimally invasive procedure that harnesses the body’s own healing properties, resulting in natural and long-lasting rejuvenation.

What to expect post treatment

  • Mild discomfort or headache (paracetamol can help treat this)

  • There is typically no down time with mild swelling for a day or two.

  • Bruising may occur –Hirudoid/Arnica cream can be applied to help if bruising occurs.

Preparation for treatment

Hydrate by drinking a litre of water before your treatment, this helps to optimise the collection of blood during the procedure.

Blood thinning medications or supplements such as aspirin, fish oil supplements or green tea should be avoided 3 days prior to your treatment.

How many treatments are needed

3 treatments are recommended, 4-6weeks apart.

Further maintenance treatments may be necessary depending on patient to patient & desired outcome.

PRP does not provide immediate results. Like hair growth, the development of new collagen and elastin takes time. Within 2-4weeks, you will start experiencing a smoother and more supple feel to your skin. As time progresses over a few months, you will observe increased volume and a more youthful appearance. The results will continue to enhance as time goes on.

Prior to receiving any medical treatment, a thorough consultation is required to determine eligibility and suitability.
